Children's Cancer Charity in Cheshire Gets Major New Facility Built by DIY SOS
An episode of BBC Children in Need DIY SOS last week showcased an inspiring transformation for The Joshua Tree charity in Cheshire. With support from local businesses like Wickes, volunteers, and donations of timber and DIY products, the centre has been revitalised, creating a welcoming space for the families it supports.

The Joshua Tree supports families affected by childhood cancer at every stage of their journey, offering tailored emotional support, counselling, therapy, educational advocacy, and wellbeing programmes that adapt to each family’s changing needs.
In just over 12 days, they gained a brand-new, two-storey second building, creating the extra space families affected by childhood cancer urgently need to access vital support in a safe, welcoming environment. The new facility includes new rooms like therapy suites, a teenage breakout room, counselling rooms, and an outdoor therapy garden.
Colleagues from the Wickes Winsford store proudly volunteered on site alongside the DIY SOS team, tradespeople, and local helpers, with Wickes also donating timber, sheds and other essential DIY materials to help complete the build.

Richard Driffield, CEO at The Joshua Tree said: "We're hugely grateful for the incredible outpouring of support for this project, from Wickes and others. The DIY SOS Big Build has been transformational for The Joshua Tree. It will help us to support more families affected by childhood cancers, with emotional and wellbeing services."
Kevin Rimmer, Regional Leader at Wickes, said: "It was incredible to see the transformation come together and to be able to play a small part in supporting The Joshua Tree. Being on site alongside so many passionate volunteers really brought home how much of a difference a welcoming, well-equipped space can make for families going through such challenging times."
